Gas distributers have been instructed by Liquigas to accept Easygas grey cylinders in return for its yellow or green ones.

Easygas has been accepting Liquigas cylinders in return for its own since it was set up.

Liquigas, on the other hand, has been calling for action by the authorities against this move and in a decision taken in May, the Malta Resources Authority asked Easygas to return to Liquigas the latter's cylinders, which it had collected,

Easygas has so far defied the order.

Liquigas wants to give people who return its cylinders without presenting a receipt a €5 refund. A new cylinder costs €25.

GRTU said this afternoon that it was informed by Liquigas that although it did not agree with the exchange of gas cylinders, until the regulatory authorities decided on this aspect, it was authorising distributors to accept Easygas cylinders in return for its own.

The GRTU again called on the government to amend the legal notice concerning gas distribution.
