Former Italy coach Marcello Lippi believes AC Milan and Napoli will fight it out for next season's Serie A title.

Massimiliano Allegri guided the Rossoneri to last year's crown, six points ahead of city rivals Inter with Napoli a further six points back in third.

However, Inter have a new coach in Gian Piero Gasperini with former boss Leonardo set to become technical director at Paris St Germain.

And Lippi, who has not worked since stepping down as national team boss after their woeful 2010 World Cup campaign, feels Milan and Napoli are best placed to challenge next season.

He told Corriere dello Sport: "AC Milan and Napoli are favourites for next year's title.

"Allegri and (Napoli manager Walter) Mazzarri have the right experience and a solid group.

"For sure, the transfer market will have a lot to say.

"Milan dream of (midfielder) Marek Hamsik? Mazzarri will do everything to keep him at Napoli."
