A light aircraft ended up on the grass near the main runway of Malta International Airport this afternoon after suffering undercarriage problems.

The incident happened  as the prop-engined aircraft, a Beech Baron, landed and its left undercarriage collapsed. No one was injured but the runway was closed for a short time.

The incident happened at about 6 p.m.
