Imax is launching a new film on the ocean's underwater life - Ocean Wonderland 3D, the first 3D large format underwater movie shot entirely using digital technique and allowing only natural light.

In the film, underwater life appears exactly as it is, making it the closest you can get to a dive without actually being there. Ocean Wonderland 3D is the experience of an amazing underwater journey from Australia's Great Coral reef to the Bahamas, observing sharks in a feeding frenzy, frolicking dolphins and soaring eagle rays against the glowing colours of the coral background.

The film was produced by Jean-Jacques Mantello in collaboration with the United Nations Environmental Programme, Coral Reef Unit and the WWF Endangered Sea Programme. It points out the dangers threatening the coral reefs and underlines their role in maintaining the well-being of our planet.

The Imax Theatre, in St Julians, is also hosting a shark exhibition in the Imax foyer that will be open to the public between March 23 and April 3 between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. on weekdays and between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. on weekends.

Brought over from the Boston Aquarium, the exhibition allows visitors to learn more about sharks - feel their skin textures, learn how they see and hear, see their jaws, learn how they find their food and much more.

The Imax theatre will be giving away free 3D viewers to the first 1,000 children who see the film.

Imax offers special family rates: two parents and one child at Lm6; one parent and two children at Lm5.50, extra children at Lm1.25.
