Three Libyan charged with attacking the police officers during a protest in front of the Libyan embassy in March last year were cleared from the charges as footage of the event had not shown them to be committing the crimes they were accused of.

Libyans Mohannid Garzadin, 30, of St Paul's Bay, Ali Bodhir, 36, of Paola and Salaheddin Said, 41, of St Paul's Bay had been charged with attacking, violently resisting and disobeying police officers and breaching the peace.

Magistrate Miriam Hayman ruled that there was no proof that the crowd had gathered in front of the embassy to commit a crime.

The aim had been to protest against injustice and oppression in Libya and to stop genocide from taking place.

Even the Maltese government had given its factual and moral support.
