Libyan Foreign Minister Mohammed Emhemmed Abdul Aziz is to have talks in Valletta today with Foreign minister George Vella.

The talks are expected to focus on the current situation in the North African country.

Dr Vella earlier this week appealed to EU foreign ministers to ensure that the EU improves its engagement with Libya to help the country out of its current state of uncertainty.

Tripoli has been shaken by fierce fighting between rival militias, although the situation has now calmed down.

A top militia commander died in a Maltese hospital two weeks ago after having been injured in the fighting.
