Mohammed Ibrahim Halil, 24 a Libyan who lives in Swieqi with an expired visa, this morning pleaded not guilty to damaging five cars, a house facade and a garage door in Swieqi yesterday morning. He also denied driving without a licence, driving while drunk, and taking a car without the consent of its owner (the room mate of the accused)

Mr Halil is alleged to have been behind the wheel of a car which hit the parked vehicles before it overturned.

Police Inspector Luke Bonello asked the court to deny bail because the accused does not even know his address and because his visa has expired.

Lawyer Austin Gauci Maistre that the accused has a fixed address but simply does not remember it.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke said the accused could not provide the guarantees required for him to be granted bail, and remanded him in custody.
