A 47-year-olod Libyan man has been remanded in custody after being accused of association to traffic heroin in Malta.

Mahmed Amber Mahmoud Ali, who is resident in Safi, was arrested when he allegedly called at a hotel to receive drugs just imported from Turkey by a Portuguese man, who was arraigned yesterday.

The man allegedly imported half a kilo of heroin which he hid in capsules in his stomach.

At the hotel, the Libyan man told the police he had gone there to give fruit to the Portuguese man.
