In my last letter, what I had written "on a lighter note" has apparently (and unfortunately) been taken far more seriously than I could ever imagine.

If, surprisingly enough, Fr Peter Serracino Inglott failed to detect a touch of humour in my piece, and misinterpreted it as a slight on his philosophical knowledge and a slant on his person, then the zest of our verbal sparring has definitely lost its sheen, making it not really worth the while.

Given that I have, seemingly, unintentionally hurt Fr Peter's feelings, I do apologise, but in the same breath say 'amen' to our correspondence.
