We know you all love the drama that comes with the Malta Eurovision song contest. Whether it’s the songs or the fashion, the gossip or maybe even the hope of some backstage drama... this is the one event that unites the whole country. Even those who enjoy bitching about how kitsch it all is watch it! Of course, whether they admit to doing so is another story altogether.

With the Malta finals set for this Saturday, the fun starts now. This week, this is going to be your first stop when it comes to anything related to the Eurovision. Want to know which singer is likely to embarrass him/herself with a totally OTT outfit? Or even which contestant is up for the “highest number of failed attempts” award? Just check our daily updates and enjoy.

To give you a quick recap about what has happened till now: rehearsals are well under way, with the majority of contestants already sorted with regards to that all-important issue: The Outfit. From what we’ve seen in past editions, The Outfit sometimes exceeds The Song in importance, so I’m sure that’s a load off everyone’s minds. Stage rehearsals kick off tomorrow (we’ll try our best to sneak in on your behalf) and will keep on going throughout the whole week.

Thursday is likely to see some high drama happening in Ta’ Qali, with a full dress run planned for the evening. Last minute wardrobe malfunctions anyone? I’ll bet anything that a good number of contestants will be spending the Thursday night in a last minute, mad meeting with their personal stylists!

Friday is D-Day, of course, with a last rehearsal in the morning followed by – we hope – chilling time. Every diva worth his/her salt needs some good me-time before taking to the stage, right? The first semi-final will start at 20:45, with all contestants vying to be one of the sixteen singers who will make it to Saturday’s final. Finalists will have a last general rehearsal on Saturday morning (by then it will be a case of dinasours, as opposed to butterflies, in most stomachs) leading to the final at 20:45.  At approximately 23:30 hours on Saturday February 4, we will know the identity of this year’s ambassador for Malta at the next Eurovision Song Contest in Azerbaijan in May.

Until then keep checking in for more updates and, of course, the gossip!
