As the divorce referendum approaches, domestic comedy The Opposite Sex, written by David Tristram, directed by Herman Grech and certified 16, offers a few lessons in love, life and above all laughter. This is the second comedy produced under the banner of DnA Theatre Productions, which was founded by Alan Montanaro and Denise Mulholland. Vicky (Mulholland) is married – not always happily – to Mark (Montanaro), an advertising director. She is, ironically, a marriage guidance counsellor, and more than a match for her quick-witted husband. Rowena Grima plays Judith, a shy, girl-next-door type. How or why she ended up married to the boorish academic Eric (Malcolm Galea) is anyone’s guess. When the couples get together for a dinner party, their pasts come back to haunt them in an embarrassing but hilarious manner. Performances will take place at St James Cavalier, Valletta, from May 13 to 15 and May 20 to 22. Tickets cost €15 (€12 on opening night). Bookings from St James Cavalier; call 2122 3200, e-mail: boxoffice@sjcav.org or visit www.sjcav.org.
