The Leone Philharmonic Society today condemned the brawl  which took place in Victoria, Gozo on Tuesday night and said it was not involved in what had taken place.

The society was referring to a fight which broke out on its premises and spilled into Republic Street. A number of people were slightly injured. The police are to make a number of arraignments.

The society said the incident was totally unrelated to the feast of Santa Marija which was celebrated over the past days in Victoria, Gozo.

It said that the bar where the fight broke out, within its premises, is leased out to third parties and the disco which was taking place was organised by the lessee who runs the same bar and not by the society.

"To make things clear, the Society does not organise discos during the five days of the feast of Santa Marija.  Indeed no bandsmen, supporters or other members of the Society were involved," it insisted.
