The Leone Band of Victoria Gozo is putting up the second edition of its open air Leone Goes Pop & Movies after the success of the launch concert last year.
It will present an array of pop music followed by a film music.
Under the direction of resident conductor Colin Attard, the Leone Band will interpret some of the most celebrated and award-winning film music scores including the 007 theme, music by Henry Mancini, movie blockbuster soundtracks and the all-time classic, Charles Chaplin movie themes, composed by the same great artist.
There will also be The Best of The Tramps – a medley arranged by Joseph Debrincat (jr), comprising of the immortal Xemx, Sinjur Gib il-Paci, and Inti Djamant from Gozo’s legendary band The Tramps. This will be a tribute to the late Dominic Grech, lead singer of the band, who is also a former bandsman of the Leone, and to the glorious days of The Tramps at the Aurora dances, way back in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
Enhanced with a vigorous light show and visual projections, together with the participation of guest singers Pamela and Mario Caruana, the Leone Band said it was promising another high-quality musical concert for tourists and locals alike. Last year's show attracted well over 500 people in Victoria’s main square.
Leone Goes Pop & Movies will be held in Independence Square on Sunday May 10th at 8.30pm. Seats will be available and entrance is free.
