Through existing networks between 28 countries represented by HR associations and sitting on the European Association for People Management (EAPM), this year the Foundation for Human Resources Development and the Cyprus Human Resources Management Association (CyHRMA) embarked on a Leonardo exchange project for HR managers.

The objectives of this project were various. The included improving the quality and the volume of co-operation between institutions or learning organisations, enterprises, social partners and other relevant bodies throughout Europe; and for beneficiaries to develop further in their HR profession by exchanging information, knowledge and innovative HR practices.

Last March, a delegation of four HR managers from the FHRD visited Cyprus where meetings were held with government, semi-government, small and large private entities as well as with a large and important Cypriot trade union.

The visit was co-ordinated with the CyHRMA .

Last month, four HR managers, members of the CyHRMA, visited Malta for a week.

The foundation co-ordinated the visit and the delegation held meetings with the GWU, Vassallo Builders, the Staff Development Organisation within the office of the Prime Minister, Mizzi Motors Ltd, Mater Dei Hospital, the Institute of Water Technology within the Water Services Corporation, Arrow Pharm (Malta) Ltd and the Employment and Training Corporation.

Both delegations were overwhelmed with information and new knowledge on HR systems and practices. New networks have been formed which will continue reaping benefits both professionally and socially.

This was the first Leonardo Mobility Project FHRD has been granted. It hopes to be able to offer the same opportunity to many more of its members.
