A legal notice regulating horses on the road will be out shortly, Transport Minister Joe Mizzi said this evening.

He was giving an overview of his ministry's work over the past year during a session from the series A Government that Listens.

The minister gave no details about the legal notice.

Mr Mizzi said the Bahar ic-Caghaq Coast Road would be ready by November and soon after work would start on the Kappara junction.

He empathised with people who complained about traffic delays caused by the Coast Road works but insisted these were caused because of remains discovered at the Kennedy Grove area.

The minister also said that some 100,000 commuters applied for tallinja intelligent bus cards.

The bus cards system is expected to start operating in July and is intended to reduce on-board ticket sales.

Mr Mizzi said he was confident more people would use public transport as new routes and higher frequencies would be introduced over the next few months.

He said Cabinet had decided to put off a national policy on parking until the public transport system was fully operational.
