The University of the Third Age (U3E) launches its 2008-2009 programme of lectures on October 6. They will be held from Mondays to Thursdays between 9 and 11 a.m. at the Floriana centre, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Sliema centre.

The programme of lectures covers the following subjects: Church and State in Malta, Baroque Painting in Malta, Maltese authors, Maltese composers past and present, Healthy eating for the elderly, Health promotion, The environment and society, The post Cold War period, Faith and culture, Political issues in the Mediterranean, The economics of pensions and active ageing, Physical and mental challenges in old age, History of contemporary philosophy, Religious cults in Malta - Prehistoric to modern times, Malta under the Order of St John, Il-binja tal-ilsien Malti, German for beginners, German at Advanced level, French for beginners, French at Advanced level.

The programme and application forms may be collected from September 15 between Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to noon, from the U3E Floriana centre, ground floor, Catholic Institute, Floriana, or from September 16, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 5 to 7 p.m. from the Sliema centre, Salesian Centre, Sliema.
