Lecce’s Serie A game with fellow strugglers Bari next week will be played behind closed doors.

The home side released a statement on their official website yesterday announcing that no fans would be allowed into the Via del Mare stadium for the January 6 derby.

Police have taken the unusual step because of security fears surrounding the league’s two bottom sides, who are separated by a distance of about 85 miles on the heel of Italy.
