Leading art historian and scholar Gabriele Finaldi, currently deputy director of the famous El Prado Museum in Madrid, will deliver a public talk on the paintings by Caravaggio and of Caravaggist inspiration in the El Prado collection.

His lecture, which takes place on Tuesday at 6.15 p.m. in the University's Erin Serracino-Inglott Hall, will be a fitting conclusion to the celebrations marking the 400th anniversary of the great artist's productive Maltese period.

Art lovers, collectors and connoisseurs as well as, the general public are invited to attend. Those attending are being asked to make a Lm3 or Lm5 donation towards the Caravaggio studies programme and specialised library by means of a cheque made payable to the Director of Finance, University of Malta, addressed to Keith Sciberras, the programme co-ordinator of the History of Art department within the Faculty of Arts which is organising the lecture.
