Malta's lawn bowlers enjoyed more success at the 2018 Commonwealth Games as both the men's pair and the women's fours booked their place into the quarter-finals of their respective competitions in Gold Coast.

Shaun Parnis and Brendan Aquilina were in hot form yesterday after winning their final two round robin matches to assure themselves of top two finish in Section A.

Parnis and Aquilina kicked off their commitments when they had the better of Canada 16-10.

In the afternoon session, the Maltese duo picked up their third in the competition when they brushed aside Canada 26-12.

Parnis and Aquilina have ended their commitments in second place, behind Australia who have won all their opening three matches and will play their final group match against Canada.

In the women's fours competition, Sharon Callus, Rosemarie Rixon and her daughters Rebecca and Conneigh-Leigh had a difficult start to the day after going down to Fiji 20-12.

But the Maltese quartet bounced back in style when they overcame Northern Ireland 21-8 for their third win in the competition.

The Maltese team are already sure of a top two finish and wait the result of Saturday's match between India and Fiji to see whether they finish on top of the group or runners-up.
