I agree with Francois X. Spiteri, but not quite!
With due respect, I cannot find it in me to congratulate the police in their effort towards law enforcement against tobacco-smoking abuse in enclosed public places. The figure of 247 arraignments given by the Commissioner of Police can probably be more than tripled in a 30-minute raid in any Paceville disco on any Friday or Saturday night.
With a team of plainclothes officers doing the rounds on any single weekend the figure would most certainly be astronomic. Mind you, I do not completely blame the Police Commissioner for the poor showing in this respect. This gentleman's satisfaction on this issue brought to my mind memories of a disgustingly sickening answer given in reply to a parliamentary question about the number of underage children nabbed boozing, cracking and sleepwalking in Paceville haunts.
Mentioning Paceville, how can such a dingy shanty town, with its pseudo notoriety and infamy survive if not with the enjoyment of high protection?
