A new NGO, the Ladybird Foundation, has been set up to bring joy and relief to seriously ill children.

Steve Apap Bologna, chairman, said the foundation aims at giving these children and their families the opportunity to go on vacation together and to spend quality time away from the harsh reality of their daily routine. The Foundation will also try and help these children realise any dreams they may have. The foundation has set itself the target of raising €40,000 by November. Thanks to sponsors and donors, just under €30,000 have already been collected.

The first family to benefit from these funds has already been identified with the help of the Beyond the Moon Foundation. Two young brothers, both suffering from cerebral palsy, will get to fulfill their wish to visit Euro Disney together with their families.

One of the first fund-raising activities will be a 51km run from  Cirkewwa to Marsaxlokk by four men on November 11. It will be sponsored by Nivea, The Alfred Mizzi Foundation, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Mediterranean Bank, Defined Branding and Sciencesoft.
