NCW was invited to the launch of the Labour Party programme Pjan ghal Bidu Gdid at the Corinthia Palace Hotel, Attard. MLP leader Alfred Sant made a presentation of the programme which covers 11 different sectors.

One of the issues on which ideas were shared was the role of the MCESD and the functions of the chair, following changes proposed by the Opposition. NCW said that whatever changes have proposed, the independence of the MCESD and of the chair should in no way be jeopardised.

Grace Attard and Doris Bingley discussed several issues concerning women with Dr Sant, including quotas and positive action, measures that give women who are qualified the opportunity to compete on equal level with men. The NCW is currently studying the document and will put forward its proposals.
