An online map of theatres and cultural spaces was launched yesterday by the Valletta 2018 Foundation to help artists, performers and town planners identify new and innovative venues to perform or exhibit their work.

The site – www.culturemapmalta.com – features data collected for an extensive mapping project. It includes per-formance spaces, museums, educational and sport facilities, and public spaces such as gardens and village squares.

The next phase of the project will be an audit of the physical infrastructure and artistic potential of theatres across Malta and Gozo.

V18 also announced the opening of registration for an upcoming international conference, ‘Cultural mapping: debating spaces and places’. The October conference will unite academics, researchers and artists from Europe and the Mediterranean to explore examples of cultural mapping across the region.
