The Società Dante Alighieri said today that it is offering an introductory course in Latin. The objective is to introduce participants to the basic grammatical structure of the language.

"Although it is considered as an extinct language, Latin is however the language in which the humanistic tradition of knowledge is imprinted in the cultural milieu and archived in most libraries in the old continent. It is also, together with Greek, the language of reference for the etymology of most modern words, especially in the scientific and medical fields," the society said. This introductory course is ideal for those who always wished to start approaching such a rich language.

The course will be conducted by an Italian teacher and competence in Italian is required. Further details are available on www.dantemalta.org or on 21238408.
