The Commissioner of Lands this morning pleaded not guilty to assaulting and threatening a man who had barged into his office in May last year.

Anthony Gatt, 63, had barged into Albert Mamo’s office because he was facing eviction from a Marsaxlokk property, causing a commotion.

He had collapsed and police sources had said he suffered an anxiety attack.

When Mr Gatt was arraigned shortly after the incident, his lawyer, Edward Gatt, had argued that as his client had been charged, so should the commissioner.

Mr Mamo’s case has been put off to another date.
