Milk was celebrated in the rural village of Għargħur yesterday in a festival that offered visitors the chance to learn about milk production and the preparation of dairy products. The festival, held for the first time last year, celebrated the universality of milk and how it developed through the ages, through exhibitions of dairy animals and props which re-created the farm setting in the Għargħur square.

But yesterday people also had the choice of visiting tempting displays of healthy fruits at the Fruit Fest in San Anton Gardens.

The festival, organised by the Attard and Balzan councils together with FrottArtna, was in aid of the Community Chest Fund.

The event included flower exhibitions and vegetable shows, a classic car show, healthy-food stalls and fund-raising events. Entertainment was provided by local artistes, musicians and animators for young children.

Members of the public were also treated to displays by local craftsmen.
