Kris Laferla's future with Valletta has again been called into question after the veteran midfielder and team captain walked out of the dressing room before Wednesday's Premier League match with Mosta.

Sources close to the club told The Times yesterday that the 35-year-old was so incensed by coach Dennis Fenech's decision to leave him out of the starting line-up that he left the stadium before the game against Mosta, which surprisingly ended goalless.

Laferla, an automatic choice for Valletta in the last decade, has struggled to command a first-team place since Fenech took over as coach before the start of this season. He has just recovered from injury.

Valletta are expected to summon Laferla to appear before the committee to explain his defection from the stadium on Wednesday.
