May I express my gratitude and that of friends (most of whom are elderly like me) to the Malta Tourism Authority for accepting my suggestion to install a ladder on the concrete pier at Għadira Bay (The Sunday Times, August 31).

Perhaps I may point out that we would have preferred it at the very end of the pier, where the water is relatively shallow and where it is easier to get in and out of the sea. Our constant worry and that of countless mothers and children is that we may easily slip on the moss.
