Following Sebastian Debono's letter (The Sunday Times, August 24) about ladders and pebbles at Għadira bay, the Malta Tourism Authority made the necessary inquiries and is informed that the faulty ladder has been repaired.

Moreover, note has also been taken of Mr Debono's suggestion for a new ladder to be installed in another location at Għadira. We are assured that it will be in place very shortly. However, the pebbles that he refers to cannot and should not be removed. They form an integral part of the bay's eco-system and thus should not be tampered with.
