In a recent report the KSU Education Commission said the laboratories used by Chemistry and Biology undergraduate students were in dire need of proper refurbishment.

Lack of funding was not the only problem, however. Academic 'territorialism', that is, when resources of an individual member of staff cannot be used by another staff member within the same or from a different department, also had to cease, the report pointed out.

The KSU commission consid-ered the state of the laboratories, related facilities and other relevant resources as unsatisfactory, which was quite logical considering that length of time they had been used.

The report concluded that the respective University authorities should take action so that administrative and internal political problems do not further restrict hindering higher education over and above the shortage of funding.
