The Labour Party will open its electoral campaign on Monday evening with a mass rally at the Valletta Waterfront, Opposition leader Joseph Muscat said this afternoon.

He was addressing guests at a reception organized by the PL for constituted bodies, journalists and non-governmental organisations.

Dr Muscat said the party's campaign will emphasise unity and the country's need to change direction.

Over the next eight weeks to the election, Dr Muscat insisted the Labour Party will not lock itself inside but meet families, businesses, the media and constituted bodies.

"We will have an open door policy," Dr Muscat said, adding that a longer campaign put the onus on politicians to ensure life in the country continued as normal.

"Ours will be a positive campaign during which we will put forward studied proposals," he said, noting his party's enthusiasm ahead of the campaign's official opening in three days' time.
