The Labour Party said today that shadow justice minister Jason Azzopardi lacked the credibility to speak about other people after the findings of the Auditor-General in two reports yesterday.

Justice Minister Owen Bonnici said at a Labour Party press conference that the Auditor-general had already previously rapped Dr Azzopardi about the transfer of certain properties, some of them in his district, before the last general election.

Deborah Schembri, parliamentary secretary responsible for government properties, asked what action would be taken by Opposition leader Simon Busuttil over the case. She observed that in the case of the acquisition of properties by the government from HSBC, the auditor found there was a lack of transparency and there was political interference.

Furthermore, Dr Azzopardi did not act despite knowing that land at Qormi (the former Lowenbrau site) was transferred by the government below market price.
