The Labour Party raised €561,139 in an all-day fund-raising marathon yesterday, more than twice an initial target set by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat. Last year it raised €415,000 in a similar event.

Yesterday's fund-raiser was held at party headquarters, where an entertainment programme was put up and ministers, party officials and activists received donations on the phone.

Representatives of the various party clubs also queued to present funds collected n door-to-door fund-raising.

In June, the PL raised  €192,180 in a similar event.

The PN is holding its own fund-raiser today. Last year it raised €511,767.
