Labour MP Gino Cauchi has called on Nationalist MPs Giovanna Debono, Chris Said and Frederick Azzopardi to publicly apologise after they issued a statement on Sunday claiming that they had not opposed membership of the Gozo Business Chamber in the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development.

Speaking at a press conference this afternoon, Mr Cauci recalled that after the Opposition moved a motion in January for the MCESD to include the FORUM group of trade unions, an amendment was moved for the council to also include the Gozo Business Chamber.

All the members of the government group voted against against the amendment and the motion, defeating them.

Last Sunday Opposition leader Joseph Muscat criticised the Minister Debono, Parliamentary Secretary Said and Mr Azzopardi for opposing the inclusion of the Business Chamber, something which they subsequently  denied.

However, yesterday the Speaker confirmed that they had voted against the amendment moved in parliament by the Opposition.
