Opposition leader Simon Busuttil was criticized by the Labour Party today for having failed to act or comment about Nationalist MP Tony Abela who, it said, had not declared his interest in a company in which another person convicted of drug trafficking is a partner.
“This is an example of double standards by Dr Busuttil,” Labour MP Charles Mangion said at a press conference.
He said the company involved is Ajaca Fishing Company, about which there are no liquidation proceedings.
He said that while Dr Busuttil spoke about high standards in public life, his failure to act undermined his credibility.
Other examples of double standards, Dr Mangion said, were the way how Dr Busuttil tried to silence the whistleblower in the case involving former minister Giovanna Debono's husband, and the way how the PN introduced a loans scheme by circumventing the party funding law.
