The Labour Party this morning accused the Nationalist Party of trying to hinder the work of a technical committee on waste by playing partisan games.

The Nationalist Party yesterday accused the government of trying to stifle public discussion on waste management after the Labour MPs in the parliamentary Environment Committee on Tuesday voted against a PN proposal to discuss the government’s decision to build a waste-to-energy plant.

The PL said in a statement this morning that the government members on Parliament’s Environment Committee believed this should debate issues linked to the committee’s work once the technical committee concluded its work and made its recommendations.

But the Opposition was trying to confuse issues even though this was one of the country’s biggest future challenges.

"The new way is worse than the one before," the PL said.
