After months of hard work, preparation and a new sense of enthusiasm, La Salle Handball Club have just started their commitments in the 2010-11 season laid out by the Malta Handball Association.

On the administrative side, La Salle will again be under the charge of president Victor Zammit with top officials Maria Psaila Valletta, Clive Ferrante, Andrew Mifsud and Stephanie Desjardins also retaining their posts.

Following the annual general meeting it was also decided that Margaret Mercieca and Raffaella Zammit Tabona should be added to the committee in their respective ranks as member and public relations officer.

This season, the men’s team will be coached by Sweden’s Lotta Malmberg.

The women’s team started the 2010-11 campaign on a high note following the Super Cup victory over Aloysians last weekend.

Like the men’s team, the La Salle girls are also under the tutelage of a new coach, John Falzon. He replaced Andrew Said.

A few weeks ago, La Salle played in the men’s Trofeo Ortigia in Sicily and placed third. Eight teams took part in the international tournament.

“This was the first time a local team competed on foreign soil in an official tournament,” Zammit said.

“Third place was a very creditable showing for our men’s team and augurs well for the new season. We had some changes within the structure of the club in summer but La Salle will remain among the major contenders for the titles in all categories and that includes the junior competitions.”

This season, La Salle’s main sponsors will be Trendi, Caccu Social Club, ZT Development, KIA Motors, PRO Led, AV Servicing and Toyota.
