The article published yesterday by Times of Malta entitled '€6.4m in personal revenue before Mizzi was minister' is a "misinterpretation" of a document, Minister Konrad Mizzi said.

In a reply through his lawyer, the minister said the information is clearly an extract from a biography and a past work resume.

The biography provided an overview of the projects which Dr Mizzi worked on before entering politics. This included his role as partner and head of practice with an international firm.

As head of practice, Dr Mizzi developed the energy practice and also sold various consultancy engagements on behalf of the firm.

The €6.4 million revenue relates to client accounts and business development led by Dr Mizzi and, as such, was received by the firm "and not by Dr Mizzi as Times of Malta has inaccurately reported."

Dr Mizzi’s declaration of assets in Parliament was therefore correct, he said.

"Any other reading of that statement is incorrect. Times of Malta was expected to grant Dr Mizzi adequate time to comment and clarify this matter before publication," his lawyer said.
