Konrad Mizzi never offered to resign in the wake of revelations that he owned a company in Panama.

"I subjected myself to a tax audit," the minister said when questioned on last night's edition of TimesTalk.

Asked whether he had ever offered to resign in view of the damage that the scandal has caused to the Labour Party, the minister said he would stay put for as long as he had the support of the people and the prime minister.

Asked whether that meant that he had not submitted his resignation, Dr Mizzi said he had observed the law, he had addressed any issues which he could have tackled better, and people who knew him knew he was a straight person.

But had he contemplated resignation, the minister was asked again.

The only people who contemplated resignation were those in the PN who had seen him deliver project after project and had tried political assassination, the minister replied.

He was proud to be making a difference in people's lives and would continue to do so.

"I recognise I made a mistake... What I can do is work harder," Dr Mizzi said.
