US student Amanda Knox says a film documenting the murder of her British roommate Meredith Kercher and the trial “is an invasion of my life”.

Ms Knox made the statement at a civil court hearing in Perugia, Italy, aimed at halting circulation of the film Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy.

Ms Knox’s lawyer Carlo Dalla Vedova said the film has aired on the Lifetime television network despite his legal attempt to prevent it from being viewed.

The film is also available on Lifetime’s website, and on video streaming sites.

Ms Knox’s lawyer says his client is being damaged, citing her ongoing appeal against her murder conviction. The lawyer says the civil case was delayed until July 4 so Lifetime can respond to a summons to appear before the court.

Ms Knox is serving 26 years after being found guilty of themurder and sexual assault of Meredith Kercher, 21, from Surrey, in what prosecutors claimed was a violent group sex game in the house the women shared in Perugia, in 2007.
