As the article Malta Bucks The Trend In Tourism From The UK (July 5) noted, the feeble buying-power of the British pound combined with high fuel costs have made Malta an expensive destination for travellers from the UK. It was noted that Malta has done extensive advertising in Britain which is paying good dividends.

I would encourage Malta to advertise in the US, too, and especially emphasise tourist areas which display the rich heritage of the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St John of Jersualem, of Rhodes and of Malta.

The revenue generated could be channelled toward worthwhile endeavours enabling British, American and other visitors to extend their knowledge of and appreciation for the Knights and their contribution in making Malta what it is today.
