Juergen Klinsmann preached patience to two of his Bayern Munich players yesterday, telling Franck Ribery to forget about a quick comeback and Lukas Podolski to bide his time on the bench.

Ribery said on Wednesday he hoped to be back in the Bayern squad to face Steaua Bucharest in the Champions League next week but Klinsmann responded by saying he had no intention of rushing the Frenchman back.

"Bucharest is definitely too early," the Bayern coach said.

"Ribery's target is the game against Lyon (on Sept. 30) and even that's very quick."

Ribery suffered an injury to his left ankle playing for France at Euro 2008 and returned to full training only this week.

Podolski is another frustrated Bayern player. He is the third choice striker behind Luca Toni and Miroslav Klose at the moment and Klinsmann has warned him not to expect a quick fix.

"It's up to Lukas to show he's better than them," he said. "That could be a long-term project, over months or years."
