Details about the Kirkop Christmas village were announced during an activity at the Kirkop Primary school earlier on today. The Christmas village is a festival organised by the Kirkop Local Council together with the Gal Xlokk foundation.

The Kirkop Christmas village will be held at the Kirkop primary school on the 7th December from 4:30pm onwards. It will feature local Kirkop talents with events that vary from pageants to music. There will also be local traditional foods such as turkey, lamb, imbuljata and qagħaq tal-għasel. The event will be all about a good mix of local Maltese traditions and more modern traditions celebrating the Maltese identity and its culture.

Those attending will also have the chance to help the Malta Community Chest Fund through donations.

During the same press conference a book by Josef Baldacchino was launched. Ħjiel għal Milied Gastronomiku Malti contains stories of old imported ingredients and some recipes which have now been long forgotten. This book will be available at the Kirkop Christmas village against a donation to MCCF.

Parliamentary Secretary Dr Stefan Buontempo was present for the press conference where he talked about the importance that Local Councils have towards promoting cultural activities like this one which in turn also help improve commercial activity within the locality.
