Children getting the new Kinder Surprise eggs from the supermarket shelves will find a colourful classic Looney Tunes character inside, from the newest ‘surprise’ toy collection that has just been launched by Kinder.

The popular cartoon characters come in a capsule that is cased in sweet eggs made by Italian chocolate-maker giant Ferrero. The egg is covered in milk chocolate – brown on the exterior and white on the inside.

“Kinder has successfully made possible play experiences that stimulate the imagination combined with a famous nutritious snack based on the ‘more milk and less cocoa’ recipe,” Clyde Attard, marketing manager at P. Cutajar & Co. Ltd, exclusive importers and distributors for Kinder in Malta, said.

Kinder Surprise was launched in Italy in 1972. The toys were invented by a Swiss-born industrial designer called Hein Roth. It was he who came up with the idea of creating a toy that could be fitted inside a chocolate egg and yet be put together to create a toy that could end up bigger than the capsule it came out of.
