Villagers from Kate Middleton’s home parish have announced a day of festivities to mark the wedding.

Revellers will be able to enjoy traditional country celebrations to honour their famous resident marrying Prince William.

Everything from Morris dancing to hog roasts and even duck racing will be staged in Bucklebury, close to Kate’s family home in Berkshire.

Wynne Frankum, Bucklebury Parish Council’s chairman, said the village was buzzing with anticipation.

She said: “I think a lot of people are very excited about the wedding, it’s a once in a lifetime experience.

“Everyone is gearing up for the big day and it’s going to be a wonderful celebration.”

Around 1,500 people have applied for tickets but organisers believe around 2,000 will eventually be allocated.

A wedding breakfast, staged in the hamlet of Chapel Row where the Middletons live, will start the day for those who want to savour every moment of the wedding.

Bucklebury’s two local pubs, the Bladebone and the Cottage Inn, will be hosting parties and the village extravaganza Tea in The Park will take place at Bucklebury Farm Park.

Highlights of the park event will see local bands playing for the revellers, a children’s contest for the best crown and tiara, ferret racing and other activities culminating in a proms-style fanfare.

A wedding cake, two-and-a-half feet high, will be also be cut up for the partygoers.
