Juventus coach Antonio Conte admits his side are desperate to avoid a repeat of last season's slow start in the Champions League.
The Italian champions travel to Denmark to face FC Copenhagen at the Parken Stadium in their Group B opener.
The Turin giants were held to draws by Chelsea, Shakhtar Donetsk and FC Nordsjaelland in their opening three games of last term's competition but recovered to qualify for the knockout stage.
Juve have an equally tough group this season, with Tuesday's rivals joining them in a pool that also includes nine-time European champions Real Madrid and Turkish giants Galatasaray.
And Conte insists a strong start to the group stage is vital this time round.
"It is important to get off to a good start," Conte said. "Our aim is to do better than last season and we will go out for the victory in Copenhagen.
"However, we cannot take the risk of underestimating Copenhagen.
"The Champions League always manages to bring out the best in players."
Juve were knocked out of Europe in last season's quarter-finals by eventual winners Bayern Munich.
On the home front, Conte's men are this season looking to win their third Serie A title in a row, and have opened their campaign with two wins and a draw from their first three games.
"Our real aim this season is the domestic league, where we can compete," Conte said.
"But we want to go as far as possible in the Champions League."
Fabio Quagliarella is set to replace Montenegrin forward Mirko Vucinic, who started in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Inter Milan and is doubtful with a knock.
The Italian striker will partner Carlos Tevez up front.
Copenhagen return to Europe's elite competition after a two-year absence.
The Danish champions, coached once again by Stale Solbakken, hope to emulate the success they had back in the 2010-11 campaign when they reached the last 16 before being eliminated by Chelsea.
However, Lions striker Nicolai Jorgensen knows his side face an almost impossible task this season.
"We were very unlucky to be placed in this group with very strong opposition," he said. "We really wanted to avoid it.
"I think the key will be to take as many points as possible from our home games but it is going to be very difficult."
Copenhagen have struggled on the domestic front having mustered just seven points from eight league games so far.
They lie third-from-bottom in the Superliga standings following Saturday's 1-1 draw at home to Esbjerg.
