For the ninth consecutive year, Tennis Club Kordin (TCK), in conjunction with the Malta Tennis Federation, will be hosting the U-14 international ranking tournament this month.

A record number of players have applied, 106 boys and 68 girls. Players hail from 22 different countries.

This year, the tournament is being sponsored by Meridian Enterprises Co Ltd through their brand Hyundai Motor Vehicles.

“Hyundai nowadays has established a great affinity with the world of sports having been one of the main sponsors at this year’s World Cup in South Africa. So, supporting an international tennis tournament was a natural step for Hyundai Malta,” Andy Portelli, Sales Manager at Hyundai Malta, said.

The local boys taking part will be Bernard Cassar Torregiani, Raphael Sammut, Matthew Cassar Torregiani and Mark Schranz. The girl line-up includes Maria Giorgia Farrugia Sacco, Alexia Cassar, Katrina Sammut, Rebecca McCarthy and Naomi Zammit Ciantar.

The qualifying rounds will be played on August 21 and 22. The tournament comes to a close on August 28.
