The commemoration of the June 7, 1919 bread riots will be held at Hastings Garden, where the Sette Giugno monument was erected over the past few days.

The programme starts at 9.30 a.m. when the Armed Forces of Malta band marches from St George's Square, in Valletta where the monument was located up to some months ago, to its new site at Hastings, overlooking Marsamxett Harbour.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Michael Frendo will make his annual address. This will be Dr Frendo's first Sette Giugno speech since he succeeded Louis Galea who is now a member of the European Court of Auditors.

The Last Post will be sounded and a minute's silence will be observed. The Speaker will then lead a wreath-laying ceremony. Flowers will also be laid by the Prime Minister, the Opposition Leader, MPs and representatives of constituted bodies.
