Jubilee Foods, a brand extension of Café Jubilee, recently inaugurated its first two shops, offering aficionados of genuine food the possibility to enjoy the entire range of Jubilee artisan foods at home. The shops are located in Ta’ l-Ibraġġ and in Victoria and are the first two of a chain that the company plans to inaugurate in different locations over the coming years.

The two new shops embody the Jubilee Foods ethos of high-quality products and takes patrons on a nostalgic journey back to their roots with a shopping experience that has been designed on the same principles as the Café Jubilee patron experience. The selection on offer includes traditional Maltese and Gozitan dishes whose recipes have been handed down from generation to generation.

“The idea behind Jubilee Foods is to offer people the possibility of enjoying the Jubilee experience even while relaxing at home. We are achieving this by offering a range of Mediterranean or traditional, wholesome and hand-made artisan foodstuffs prepared from fresh produce. The shops will stock Jubilee Foods’ pies and savouries, wine, preserves, oils, coffee, and desserts. The range will also include seasonal specialties – currently, the highlight is the Lampuki Pie, a much-loved dish on the traditional Maltese culinary calendar,” said Alex Scicluna, director of Jubilee Foods.

The Jubilee Foods range has been the subject of extensive research, at the basis of which were the customers’ wishes. Thanks to this research, an initial range of about 40 food items – which include jams, chutneys, syrups, Comino honey, traditional tomato paste, sun-dried tomatoes, peppered cheeslets and hand-picked capers – was created. All Jubilee Foods branded products are certified and the packaging carries extensive dietary information.

Ready to cook items on the list include the famous Nanna’s Ravjoli, the rice and pumpkin pie, steak and dark ale, and cheeslet and broad bean pies while the selection of desserts offers date sweets, walnut and marmalade tarts, and pumpkin cake. There is also a small range of Jubilee wines, Italian olive oils and aromatic coffee sourced from South America. In November, the plain cheeslet will be added to the list of foodstuffs.

“We have exciting plans to further develop the artisan range at Jubilee Foods. We will also be opening more shops throughout the coming three years. The plan is to make Jubilee Foods easily accessible across Malta and Gozo,” Mr Scicluna said.
