The journalist who wrote an article in a Nationalist Party newspaper two days before the 2003 election claiming that then AD chairman Harry Vassallo had failed to pay his value added tax testified in court today that his source was definitely not Edgar Galea Curmi, who heads the Prime Minister's secretariat.

Journalist Ray Abdilla was giving evidence in the libel case instituted by Mr Galea Curmi against Saviour Balzan, who claimed in an article that Mr Galea Curmi had visited his home to give him information about Mr Vassallo and another person.

Mr Abdilla told the court that although he could not reveal his sources, he could confirm that the information did not come from Mr Galea Curmi. He said that although he knew well enough who Mr Galea Curmi was, it was not as if they spoke on a regular basis or were friends.

The case continues.
